Brunei Darussalam needs to be resilient in facing the challenges after effects of the pandemic, geopolitical tensions, climate change and technological disruptions, that are reshaping trade patterns, investment flows and consumer behaviour. At the same time, Brunei Darussalam needs to ensure the growth remains sustainable and future-oriented. Speaking at the Opening of the 5th International Conference on Business, Economics and Finance, ICBEF, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy, said that, under the leadership of His Majesty, innovation and sustainability have always been the guiding principles in national development.
Professor Jinhua Zhao from Cornell University, in the keynote address “Renewable Energies in the Era of Global Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities." discussed the evolving relationship between public policy, private sector innovation, and global energy transition, underscoring the importance of coordinated action to meet climate targets. With themed, ''Economic Resilience through Sustainable Business and Innovation'', the conference gathered over 250 participants. The two-day conference is co-organised by the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Hibiscus EP (Brunei) BV.
